7/17/2025 Rod Boss Sportfishing

Fishing has been good from 70-140 fow.  Most of the effort comes to try and land these fish or keeping away from other fishing boats.

Spoons have been good early in the riggers or maybe a 150-200 copper.  The rest of the bites have been split and maybe vary from day to day but split between meat and flies.  High divers back 180-200 low divers back 80-120 or deeper back 180-220.  Chute rigger has been real good with meat rigs just off bottom.  The 250-450 coppers have been working with a variety of meat rigs and flies greens and yellows something with dots is best but it isn’t the only thing they are biting.

Black Pearl Mid July

Fishing has been outstanding in Holland and most ports along the Michigan coast.  Fish are being found in a variety of depths from 80 all the way to 180.  Catches consist of mainly king salmon.  We are targeting 40-70 ft depths with a combination of magnum spoons, flasher/flies and meat rigs.  Divers back 90-120 on lows and 150-220 on highs, 200-400 coppers and riggers 50-70 down.

7/12/2025 Rod Boss Sportfishing

Spoons, meat and flies have all been working. It does seem that you do need the variety to keep the bite going. Riggers down 50-60 high divers back 120-150 low divers back 70-110. 200-300 coppers have been best. I would mix up the baits so you have a variety of baits at different depths and then you can adjust depending on what the fish are telling you. Spoons on the riggers early but then switching to flies later seemed to work well for us. Meat rig on the chute has been harvesting salmon from the depths.

Get out and enjoy!

Black Pearl 4th of July Report

Fishing has overall been good.  Mornings have been more productive than evenings but that should change with the upcoming full moon.  Catches are pretty been a mix of kings, lake trout, coho and steelhead.  We've been fishing in 70-90ft at low light and getting as far as 190 depending on where we are getting bites.

We've been running our Traxstech riggers with flashers and flys and paddles and flys 70-100 down.  Blood Run wire divers 200-240 back on highs and 95-150 back on lows have been very productive.  I've had a mix of flasher/flies and Big Weenie meat rigs on these.  Blood Run 225-450 coppers have been most productive with flasher/flys but we have been running a few spoons still on higher boards.  Happy Fourth of July!

Rod boss Sportfishing 7/2/2025

Fishing seems to finally be improving.  It’s still early in July, The sea Fleas are showing up and are bringing the Kings with them. Salmon are slowly showing up in better numbers than what we have seen in June.  It is a good time to get out and fish.  100-130 east west trolls with meat, flies and spoons were productive last night.  The night fishing has been best the last hour of daylight.
